Just in case people didn't know where the biggest boy band in the world right now came from, "The X Factor" U.K. has made a promotional video for its ninth season, with the video reminding people that One Direction was created on "The X Factor" U.K.
The "X Factor" U.K. promo video, which was released on July 27, 2012, features childhood photos of the five members of One Direction (Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan), as well as footage of the group when One Direction competed on the show in 2010. (One Direction ended up in third place.) Since then, One Direction has become the biggest global act to emerge from "The X Factor," by having No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in several countries.
All five members of the group auditioned for "The X Factor" U.K. as solo singers but were rejected as solo singers. They were then put into a group by "The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell, who became One Direction's mentor on the show. Cowell later signed One Direction to Syco Music, the record company that he co-owns with Sony Music.
As for Cyrus, who knows what it's like to be a teen idol to millions, she tweeted this message on July 27, 2012: “Feel like I’m hangin with a 13 year old girl when I have sleepovers with gays! Weve spent an hour stalking Zayn from @onedirection but gotta admit I love every second of it."
It's all in good fun though, since Cyrus and Malik are in serious romantic relationships with other people. Cyrus is engaged to actor Liam Hemsworth. Malik has been dating Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, 19, since the spring of 2012, and he has publicly declared his love for her
